29 Sep What will the home of tomorrow look like?
We all probably wish that we could look inside a crystal ball and see what the future holds. But, unfortunately, we can’t. I think its easy to see that battery operated-engine less cars are certainly here to stay and will most definitely be a part of our future. But what about our houses? What will be important and groundbreaking for the homes that we live in? Here are some rising trends to help us figure out this question.
1) Energy Efficient Housing
Utility bills are expected to completely skyrocket over the next decades, which will most likely push the green needs of households. According to Houselogic.com, things like Waterless toilets, Grey Water Systems and Energy Dashboards will be a commonplace.
What are Waterless Toilets? Indoor Toilets will have a choice between Composting Toilets and possibly Incinerating Toilets. The names describe them to a T. Enough said.
What is a Grey Water System? These are systems that can reuse up to 60% of your household water for watering the lawn and flushing your toilets.
Finally, What would an Energy Dashboard do for our homes? Well, our cars tell us how many miles per gallon that we are getting and a Home Energy Dashboard would basically do the same for our houses.
2) Locally Grown
More and more people are on the quest to eat healthier, better-tasting foods. This need will certainly make indoor gardens commonplace. Hydroponics changed our farming landscape. It is a way of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions in water without soil. This inventive method of gardening will allow indoor kitchen gardens to flourish.
3)Jetson-esque Appliances and Fixtures
Faucets that dispense ice and vitamins? Kitchen sinks that double as dishwashers? How about Laundry machines capable of cleaning and folding clothing? These amazing inventions are actually right around the corner according to GE.
Whatever the future holds. One thing is for sure; change is coming and hopefully it will make all of our lives easier and happier.
